DoseDo Privacy Policy
The short version: DoseDo does not collect, sell, or share any of your data, and we never receive it. Everything you enter stays on your device unless you choose to back it up, and then it goes only to your own iCloud Drive or wherever you save a backup file. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours.
Information stored on your device
To remind you about your medications, DoseDo stores the following information, which you enter yourself:
- Medication names and dosages
- The times you take each medication, and whether it is marked Essential or Optional
- A record of doses you mark as taken, snoozed, or skipped
- Basic app preferences, such as whether you have seen the introductory tour
This information is stored on your device. It is never sent to us, and we have no way to access it. It leaves your device only if you choose to back it up, as described under Backups you make.
We recognize that medication information is sensitive health information, which is why DoseDo keeps it on your device by default and leaves any backup entirely in your hands.
Information we do not collect
DoseDo does not:
- Require an account, sign-in, email address, or phone number
- Collect analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports
- Display advertising or use advertising identifiers
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Include third-party software development kits (SDKs)
- Access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or Apple Health data
- Connect to any server operated by us. The only way DoseDo sends anything off your device is if you turn on iCloud Drive backup, which uses your own iCloud account.
Notifications
DoseDo can send you reminders when a dose is due. These are local notifications, scheduled and delivered entirely on your device; no notification content passes through any server. DoseDo asks for your permission before sending notifications, and the app remains fully usable if you decline. You can change this at any time in your device's Settings.
Siri
You can log doses by voice, for example by saying “Hey Siri, DoseDo taken”. Your voice request is handled by Apple’s Siri, as described in Apple’s privacy policy; DoseDo never hears your voice and receives no recording or transcript, only the request to log the doses due. Logging happens on your device, like tapping Taken. Siri’s replies mention only the time a dose was due, never a medication’s name. Siri is optional, and you can turn it off for DoseDo in your device’s Settings.
Home Screen widgets
If you add a DoseDo widget to your Home Screen, the widget reads the same information stored on your device by the app, so the two always match. This sharing happens only on your device.
Keeping and deleting your information
Your information remains on your device for as long as DoseDo is installed. Deleting the DoseDo app from your device permanently removes all of the information it stored there. Backups you have made are not removed; you can delete them yourself in the Files app.
Backups you make
DoseDo can save a backup of your medication list and your dose history so you can restore it after deleting the app or moving to a new iPhone. Backups are always your choice, and we never receive them.
- Backup files. When you export a backup, you choose where to save it, such as iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or another app. The file is a readable text file (JSON) and is not encrypted by DoseDo, so keep it somewhere you trust, as you would any document containing health information.
- iCloud Drive backup. This is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, DoseDo saves a backup to a DoseDo folder in your own iCloud Drive each time you leave the app. It is stored and protected by Apple as part of your iCloud account, including end-to-end encryption if you have turned on Advanced Data Protection. You can turn it off at any time, and delete the file in the Files app.
Restoring a backup replaces the medications and history on your device with the contents of the backup.
Device backups
If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, your device's backup may include DoseDo's data, according to the backup settings you have chosen. These backups are managed by Apple and by you. We do not have access to them.
Security
Information on your device is protected by your device's own security, including your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and the encryption provided by iOS. We recommend keeping a passcode enabled on your device. A backup is protected by wherever you keep it: your iCloud account's security, or that of the place you save a backup file.
Children
DoseDo is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Because DoseDo collects no information at all, no information about children is collected.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or hold any of your information, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, export, or delete. You remain in complete control of your information on your device, and can remove all of it at any time by deleting the app.
Changes to this policy
If we change how DoseDo handles information, we will update this policy and the effective date above. If a future version of DoseDo begins to collect any information, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
